I’m at it again! Riding 11 days for Bike the US for MS. For those that don’t know, one of my hobbies is riding long distances with a charity for Multiple Sclerosis. This trip goes from Cedar City, UT to Phoenix, AZ, heading through the Grand Canyon and through Zion, neither of which I’ve spent much time in. I’ve driven by the Grand Canyon and stopped for literally about an hour to take a few pictures, when it was about -2 degrees Celsius.
Anyway, not too much to report about today; I woke up super early, Jen drove me to the airport (thanks, Jen!) and I flew to Vegas, picked up a rental car, drove to Cedar City and now I’m here! I got to eat at Culver’s which was amazing as always and gave me throwbacks to Austin. Had a pot roast sandwich, cheese curds, and a hot fudge sundae made with custard - as always.
One of the things that always gets me is the street names in these Utah towns. We’re currently staying at 234 North 300 West. Or is it 234 West 300 North? Or North West 234 300? Anyway, not a ton of imagination. I’m not quite sure which religious precept this is supposed to represent. Cleanliness being next to godliness? Something?
Anyway, it’s a beautiful place to start a bike ride; the weather is clean and clear, the town is pretty enough and we’ll be out in the desert any minute now so I enjoyed my grocery store trip and shower while I could still have it. Tomorrow is 58 miles into Zion National Park! Can’t wait!
The WiFi at this Baptist church is labeled “prayforme” so, you know, I guess you know what to do ;)
